Making Space for Everyone
From the beginning, Common Space has been about one thing: getting satellite imagery into the hands of people who need it, not just the governments and institutions that can afford it today.
The view from space is one of the most powerful tools we have for understanding what's actually happening in the world. Right now, access to this data is being limited through licensing, business models, and political interference.
Trust in information is eroding. What's happening in conflict zones. Where climate change is landing first. How disasters reshape communities before help arrives. Satellite imagery shows what's actually happening, and a necessary tool for transparency, accountability, and decision making. We want to put that power into the hands of the communities living those realities.
This video exists because of our community. Every organization featured has written a Letter of Support for Common Space. They're joined by more than 60 others who have done the same. This is what a community-governed mission looks like before the satellite is even built.
The technology works. The finances close. The community mandate is clear. Now we're making space for everyone at the table to support the mission.
